Abstract
The ubiquity of C-H bonds makes their selective activation a challenge of significant current interest. Of many metals that have been demonstrated to activate C-H bonds, Rh(III) stands out for its broad scope and very mild reaction conditions. We have been engaged in developing a suite of novel ligands for Rh(III) piano stool complexes and investigating their ability to activate C-H bonds, with a focus on heterocycle forming transformations. Reaction and ligand development and mechanistic insights will be the subject of this lecture.
